🎓 Alaa al Aswany (geb. 1957) im Gespräch mit Christoph Burgmer. Der gelernte Zahnarzt und weltweit übersetzte ägyptische Schriftsteller Alaa al Aswany ist einer der Mitbegründer von "al Kifahi", einer Protestbewegung die 2011 zum Sturz des ägyptischen Diktators Hosny Mubarak maßgeblich beitrug. Die gescheiterte ägyptische Demokratiebewegung mündete in eine Militärdikdatur ägyptischer Offiziere. 2019 wurde Alla al Aswany wegen "Beleidigung des Staates" angeklagt und floh aus Ägypten. Er lebt und arbeitet seither in Paris und New York.
/🎓 Alaa al Aswany (born 1957) in conversation with Christoph Burgmer. Alaa al Aswany, a qualified dentist and Egyptian writer whose works have been translated worldwide, is one of the co-founders of ‘al Kifahi’, a protest movement that played a key role in the overthrow of the Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak in 2011. The failed Egyptian democracy movement led to a military dictatorship led by Egyptian officers. In 2019, Alaa al Aswany was charged with “insulting the state” and fled Egypt. He has since been living and working in Paris and New York.
علاء الأسواني (مواليد 1957) في حوار مع كريستوف بورغمير. يعد علاء الأسواني، طبيب الأسنان المتخصص والكاتب المصري الذي تُرجمت أعماله إلى لغات عديدة حول العالم، أحد مؤسسي حركة «الكفاحي»، وهي حركة احتجاجية ساهمت بشكل حاسم في الإطاحة بالديكتاتور المصري حسني مبارك عام 2011. أدت الحركة الديمقراطية المصرية الفاشلة إلى قيام دكتاتورية عسكرية بقيادة ضباط مصريين. في عام 2019، وُجهت إلى علاء الأسواني تهمة «إهانة الدولة»، فهرب من مصر. ومنذ ذلك الحين، يعيش ويعمل في باريس ونيويورك.
