Rolf-Ulrich Kunze is Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The historian specialises in researching Protestantism, the history of science and culture and the ‘material culture’ of technology. In this interview, Rolf-Ulrich Kunze traces the causes and contradictions of the ‘America First’ policy, assesses the influence of tech billionaires such as Elon Musk on American politics and analyses the first months of US President Donald Trump's second term in office.
