/🎓 Christoph Burgmer in conversation with Samir Amin. Samir Amin (1931-2018) was one of the great critics of neocolonialism. As an economist, he coined terms such as “Eurocentrism” and was an important representative of “dependency” and “world system theory”. He was born in Cairo and studied in Paris 1947-57. Since the decolonization of the 1950s and 1960s, his criticism of capitalism has been based on a global perspective. To this day, the “unequal exchange” of raw materials, goods and labor is the basis of the “global law of value”.
