🎓 Christoph Burgmer im Gespräch mit Udo Steinbach (1943-2025). Der Islamwissenschaftler Udo Steinbach war ein intimer Kenner der türkischen Verhältnisse. Udo Steinbach leitete beinahe 30 Jahre das Deutsche Orient Institut, von 1976 bis 2007, und damit die älteste private gemeinnützige Einrichtung zur Nah- und Mittelostforschung in Europa. Er veröffentlichte zahlreiche Bücher zur Türkei und zusammen mit dem Islamwissenschaftler Werner Ende war er Herausgeber des deutschen Standartwerkes "Der Islam in der Gegenwart." In diesem Gespräch aus dem Jahr 1996 erläutert Udo Steinbach die politischen Perspektiven der Türkei.

Udo Steinbach, 1976'dan 2007'ye kadar yaklaşık 30 yıl boyunca, Avrupa'nın en eski özel Orta Doğu araştırmaları kurumu olan Alman Doğu Enstitüsü'nün başkanlığını yaptı. Türkiye hakkında çok sayıda kitap yayınladı ve İslam bilimci Werner Ende ile birlikte Almanca standart eser “Der Islam in der Gegenwart”ın (Günümüzde İslam) editörlüğünü yaptı. 1996 yılında yapılan bu söyleşide Udo Steinbach, Türkiye'nin siyasi perspektiflerini açıklıyor.
/🎓 Christoph Burgmer in conversation with Udo Steinbach (1943-2025). The Islamic scholar Udo Steinbach was an intimate expert on Turkish affairs. Udo Steinbach headed the German Oriental Institute for almost 30 years, from 1976 to 2007, making it the oldest private non-profit institution for Near and Middle Eastern studies in Europe. He published numerous books on Turkey and, together with Islamic scholar Werner Ende, edited the standard German work ‘Der Islam in der Gegenwart’ (Islam in the Present). In this conversation from 1996, Udo Steinbach explains Turkey's political prospects.
